Treatment and protection

Choosing a technical solution. Based on the different items in this chapter, you will receive advice on a treatment or protection. We provide you with a description of the procedure and make you a detailed offer. What is included : a complete description of the problems, the solutions, the methods and the new properties of the renovated floor.

In function of the concentration of polymers, the emulsions will leave a film on the surface of the floor, while pore fillers penetrate the floor. The solutions are used on porous floors that are not polished.

The emulsions used by Emotion Pierres provide excellent stain resistance and a good resistance to traffic. The treatment has to be repeated depending on the use of the floor (every 6 months for a frequently used floor and every 3 to 5 years in a private home).

Emulsions exist in matte, satin or gloss finish.

The wax gives a somewhat fatty impression and the maintenance requires some attention (every day for frequently used floors and every month in a private home). The floor must be stripped and regularly redone.

Waxing is only recommended for very porous floors (terracotta,…) or frequently used rooms that require everyday maintenance anyway.

Lupoclean finish gives the floor a satin and no-slip surface (R9) finish, the hardness is increased ( 1 to 2 points on the Mohs scale compared to the original hardness of the stone). A higher anti-slip finish is also possible (R10 or R11).

Besides crystallization, there is another option to protect the floor from stains by using a water and oil repellent product. There are several products whose efficiency and durability vary according to the type of stone and the applied treatment.

These products improve resistance to stains but can not provide 100% protection against stains. These products are impregnated in the stone and have the advantage of a natural look without any protective layer on the surface of the stone.
In spite of the fact that they are less environmentally friendly, solvents are still the most effective. The floor must be completely dry before applying the product. This can take several days.

The advantage of the impregnated water and oil repellent protection is that it can be applied to almost any type of floor and finish (honed and crystallized).
